The Students will be able to understand

The architecture, structure, functions, components, and models of the Internet and other computer networks. It uses the OSI and TCP layered models to examine the nature, roles of protocols and services at the application, network, data link, and physical layers.
The principles and structure of IP addressing and fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations are introduced to provide a foundation for the curriculum. Labs use a “model Internet” to allow students to analyze real data without affecting production networks.
Packet Tracer (PT) activities help students analyze protocol and network operation and build small networks in a simulated environment.

The students will be able to

Build simple LANs, perform basic configurations for routers, switches, and implement IP addressing schemes.
Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches and resolve common VLAN routing issues in both IPv4 and IPv6 networks.
Configure WAN technologies and network services required by converged applications in a complex network.
Acquire the knowledge to use simulation tool to design an enterprise network and evaluate design alternatives.
Finish a design of an enterprise network to support applications such as electronic mails, centralised database access, and client-server applications.
Address various issues such as IP addresses assignment, choice of internetworking equipment and network performance will be considered in the network design.
