Central Library

A library is the heart of an academic institution. Our institution encourages all students and staff members to make the best use of the library that has been carefully built up since the inception of the college as a cardinal support services of the Institute. The prime objective of our library is to provide the right information to the right readers at the right time in the right manner by bibliographic sources and full text sources in the form of print as well as digital in the disciplines of Science, Engineering, Technology, Humanities, Management, general and etc., are kept in separated places such as Stack Section, Reference Section, and Periodical Section to support the scholarly and informational needs of the Institute Community . The library is housed in a spacious area of 840 Sq.m., fully computerized with Reference Section, Magazine Section, Stack Area and Digital Library . Presently there are more than 25430 books and 4218 reference volumes stacked for the benefit of staff and students. The library subscribes more than 90 specialized journals, over 40 them being international. We are also a member of US information service (USIS), British Council Library, CSIR, DELNET, CII, Madras Productivity Council and Anna University.

Constant addition of titles and volumes in all the fields of Engineering, Management, Basic Science and Humanities is the regular feature of our library. Every effort has been made to obtain all titles recommended by the faculty. Newspapers, weekly and fortnightly magazines of repute are subscribed to enable the students to keep abreast of day-to-day trends. The library comprises of an Audio-Visual section equipped with videocassettes and CDs. We are having Bar-coding and Internet connectivity. One Xerox machine has been provided for taking copies from library itself.

Digital Library – Digital Library has started functioning from 15/7/2011. More than 10,000 documents of lectures and lecture notes prepared by IIT and MIT professors are available in the form of videos, PDF and PPT.

Fine will be collected for the late return of books as follows:
Till first week after the due date Rs. 1.00 per day
From Second week onwards from the due date Rs. 2.00 per day
From Third week onwards from the due date Rs. 5.00 per day.
Members who do not return the books even after 30 days from the due date will lose the right to borrow books.

Before entering the library, Users (Staff & Student) should leave their belongings at the property counter and must scan their ID cards in e-gate at the entrance.
Strict silence should be maintained inside the library.
Books will be issued only under the Non-Transferable Institutional ID Card
If the borrowed book is not returned on the due date, a fine must be paid until the book is returned
In case of damage or loss of book, the borrower should provide a new book along with overdue charges. Otherwise the triple-price of the latest edition of book will be collected along with penalty of overdue
Writing in the books, dog-earing, tearing pages and tampering the date – slip or any other type of mutilation of books and journals etc., are punishable offences
Reference books, Back Volumes, and Journals are allowed to lend out of the library and return the same within another working day from the date of borrowing.
Library is a silence zone. Mobile phones and watch alarms should be switched to silent mode before entering the Library
The Apposite authority will take necessary action against the users who violate the library rules and regulations
Private books and personal belongings are to be deposited at the entrance. Any printed materials, documents and CD-ROMs will not be permitted to be taken inside the library
During Library hours the concerned library staff in charge will take care of entries and to maintain discipline in the library premises. Anyone found disturbing the library atmosphere will be asked to leave the library
All Library transactions should be through circulation counter only
Library members should produce their valid ID card whenever they borrow/return /renew their books at the circulation counter
Members are not allowed to use other ID card
Students can also renew their books through online renewal system, which is an Intranet Service. Books will be renewed only if the title does not attract fine, reservation and also if it is not renewed 10 times already
During Study holidays and Exam days Telephone and E-mail renewals are allowed, if the books does not attract fine and reservation

Reference Books, Back Volumes and Periodicals are not issued
Members are responsible for the books issued to their account.
Under special circumstances Librarian has the right to recall any issued books even before the due date.
The users should not bring the borrowed books inside the library unless they want to return them
